Hi there everyone! I guess you’re on this page to hear our story, so here it goes…

S’more Firewood is a 100% family business. We’re based in the Sebago Lake region of southern Maine. We process our wood right in our own back yard. And we always do our best to give our customers exactly what they ask for. When you order from us, you’ll get to see first-hand our attention to quality. In fact, we are constantly looking for, and designing, different ways to keep the wood clean, get it seasoned and dry, while also keeping the process as efficient as possible.

My dad and his family have always been in the wood business in some way. He tells stories of harvesting trees beside horses in the wintertime, and how my great-grandfather used to take branches down to an inch across to heat his house with, “All wood’ll burn if it’s thrown on a fire.” is one phrase I hear a lot. My dad’s family also takes scrap wood from their sawmill, and make that into firewood to heat their houses too.

My brother and I have sold wood out front of our house since I was just a baby, that’s 15 summers. We’ve heated our old farm house exclusively with wood for 8 years.

Having a firewood business has always been one of my dad’s biggest dreams, and is one of those things he’s always told alongside stories. So when my brother mentioned to my dad that he’d like to start a firewood business…within two weeks, we had 70 cord of tree-length wood in the yard.

In 2020, my brother and father em”Barked” on the process of starting a firewood business. They named it, “Charlie’s Firewood.” My brother sold over 50 cord of hardwood, and 25 cord of softwood in 2021, before deciding to retire from the wood business.

After my brother left the business, I took his place, which meant the name had to be changed. We played with using my name for the business, but it never quite worked. In one of my dad’s many moments of genius, he came up with the name S’more Firewood. Surprisingly, the name hadn’t been taken yet, so we snatched at the opportunity. After all…it is a perfect name.

In the future we’re planning on reaching out into the firewood-related stuff. Selling s’more kits, fire-starters, hotdog and marshmallow holders, among other things.
